Petar Musa is headed to his second MLS All-Star Game. FC Dallas and the league announced that head coach Dean Smith selected the forward for the July 29 match against a LIGA MX side at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, a 7 p.m. CT kickoff on Apple TV.
The selection caps a summer unlike any in club history. Musa represented Croatia at the 2026 World Cup and scored against England in the tournament opener at Dallas Stadium, becoming the first active FC Dallas player to score at a World Cup. He started the group matches against England and Panama.
The league form is why he was picked. Musa has 12 MLS goals this season and sits tied for second in the Golden Boot race, level with Lionel Messi. His most recent came in a 3-2 road win at San Jose on May 16. That production has pushed him to 46 goals for the club, tied with Kenny Cooper for third on the all-time list.
His March had already made history. Musa scored his second career hat trick on March 16 against San Diego, becoming the first player ever to record multiple hat tricks for FC Dallas. It was the 12th hat trick in club history and earned him Player of the Matchday for the second time. He now has three multi-goal games this season and six as a Dallas player, tied for fourth-most in club history.
Last season set the stage. Musa matched Jason Kreis for the most goals in a single season by an FC Dallas player, with 19 across all competitions. The club signed him ahead of 2024 in the largest transfer it has ever made.
His route to Texas ran through Europe. Musa scored 17 goals in 66 appearances across two seasons at Benfica, winning a Liga Portugal title and the Portuguese Super Cup, with a loan spell at Boavista and time at Union Berlin along the way. Earlier he won two league titles, a cup and a Golden Boot in the Czech First League with Slavia Prague, and also played for Slovan Liberec and Viktoria Žižkov.
The Zagreb native has 13 senior caps for Croatia. He debuted in a 1-1 draw with Wales in March 2023, scored his first senior international goal against the Faroe Islands last November, and added an assist against Montenegro three days later.
Musa is one of 16 coach selections filling out the roster behind the 11 players voted in by fans, players and media on June 4.
