Jerry Jones has taken a firm stance on the Maxx Crosby trade rumors. The Cowboys owner told fans to stop asking for the Raiders star before the Nov. 10 deadline. According to reports, he refuses to surrender draft selections to keep pace with the league. He set a firm limit for any agreement, which excludes premium assets.
Aqib Talib urged Dallas to make the move in an Oct. 31 video. He said, “Go get Maxx Crosby.” Talib believes the star defensive end would bring energy and revitalize the team. His view is that the NFC East could never return to such poor form. He wants the Cowboys to go all in right now. Yet Jones seems willing to allow Dallas to fall behind in spending instead of depleting future assets.
Fans Blame Strategy for Losing Streak
A supporter blames the prolonged Cowboys difficulties on Jones’ approach. “This is the real reason Dallas hasn’t won anything in 30 years… just incompetence,” they wrote, according to Yahoo Sports. The squad ranks 20th in passing yards allowed and 23rd in points allowed. They also rank last in the league with a PFN Defense Impact Score of 61.4. Dallas has managed just 10 sacks over seven games. Certain supporters believe the team lacks a pass rush or seldom pressures the QB.
Meanwhile, Detroit fans want Crosby back home. Former Lions offensive lineman Lomas Brown wants to see Crosby play in Michigan again. “Come home, Maxx,” Brown remarked in a video from Woodward Sports dated Oct. 31. He further stated that he had been speaking with Crosby’s mother, a friend of the program, and asked about the potential pairing of Crosby and Aidan Hutchinson. The Lions want the star back, but the Raiders control his future.
Raiders Say Crosby Wants to Stay
Even if the Cowboys wanted to pay the price, the Raiders might not sell. Jeremy Fowler, an ESPN NFL reporter, noted that a victory or defeat against the Jets would hardly influence if the Raiders or Crosby seek a trade. “I was told Crosby does not at all want to be traded,” Fowler said in an Oct. 30 video, according to Yahoo Sports. Crosby has logged 412 total defensive snaps while earning an 86.2 overall PFF defensive grade.
The Cowboys face the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday, Nov. 1 at AT&T Stadium. They need to prove they can stop the run before worrying about big trades. Stephen Jones claimed fans merit a win this week following the Arizona loss that turned into a curse. The team has lost eight out of nine games against the Cardinals. Just one additional game resembling the victory in Philadelphia would reveal to Jerry Jones if he is building a contender or fixing a flaw. A trade exchanging players might be the sole method for him to achieve either goal.
