Dez Bryant says a police officer pointed a gun at him. This happened on Sunday in Southlake, Texas, during a traffic dispute. The former Cowboys star claims the situation was handled poorly from the start. He says he felt the officer took the other side without doing the proper work.

Bryant told Fox News’ Outkick that the trouble began with reckless drivers. He alleges two men cut him off and put him in a dangerous spot. Bryant claims he told them to drive safer. The argument escalated until one man threatened to pull a firearm. “He go to threatening me and basically saying, um, he’ll insinuate that he’ll, you know, he’ll shoot me or whatever,” Bryant said, according to BroBible.

Footage Shows A Gun Aimed At A Legend

Video released to the public shows the officer aiming his weapon directly at Bryant. The footage also shows Bryant lying on the ground in handcuffs. He was not the only one restrained that day. “Footage provided to OutKick by Bryant showed an officer aiming a gun in Bryant’s direction. Bryant is also seen lying on the ground in handcuffs alongside the two other men in Southlake, Texas,” Outkick reported.

The presence of his children made this moment even harder to bear. Bryant says his main worry was not the gun itself, but his kids seeing their father treated this way. “I was really more so concerned about my children, you know, looking at their dad, you know, being on the ground with a gun pointed at me,” Bryant said, according to Yahoo Sports. No one was hurt, but the emotional toll on the family is clear.

The Citation And The Court Date

Despite claiming he was the one threatened, Bryant received an assault citation. During the dispute, he struck a phone from one man’s hand. Now he faces a court date in Southlake. Bryant is scheduled to appear at Southlake Municipal Court on or before Nov. 20 at 5 p.m.

He thinks the police ought to have brought everyone to the station for a genuine investigation. Instead, they let the other men go while citing him. “I would rather you guys take us all down to the police station and do the proper investigation instead of just taking somebody else, you know, side,” Bryant said. He feels the whole encounter was very one-sided and unfair to him.

As the Cowboys prepare for Monday night against the Eagles, this story dominates the local talk. The team has struggled on offense recently, but this legal battle for their former star is a different kind of fight. Bryant says he usually has good ties with local police, including an officer who coaches his son’s high school team. “Every time I see him, we talk ball. We just talk about the regular things,” Bryant said of that officer. “It’s always been good. This situation was just extremely unfortunate.”
