The most valuable asset a Dallas Cowboys player owns isn’t his contract or his speed. It’s the safety of his home. That safety got breached while the team was far away. Thieves broke into wide receiver CeeDee Lamb’s house in Fairview, Texas, and walked out with a massive haul. The team was at training camp in Oxnard, California, when this happened.
The Fairview Break-In
According to Fairview police records obtained by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and The Dallas Morning News, the burglary took place at Lamb’s residence on July 30 while he was away with the team. Police were notified the next day after a worker noticed a broken window. The report lists the theft of four luxury bags valued at $300,000, along with other high-end personal items. Evidence points to a single suspect who entered and exited through the broken window.
The scale of the theft is hard to ignore. $300,000 in luxury goods is a significant loss for any player, even one of Lamb’s stature. The investigation remains active, and no suspects have been publicly identified.
A Target for Thieves
This is another reminder of the risks that come with being a high-profile athlete. Even in a quieter suburb like Fairview, the combination of money and known travel schedules can draw attention. The Cowboys were in California for nearly a month of training camp, leaving homes unattended for an extended period.
When a star player loses this much in a break-in, it creates an immediate distraction. Training camp is supposed to be about preparation. Dealing with police reports, insurance, and the violation of a personal space pulls focus at the worst time. Security for players has to account for long stretches when the entire team is out of town. This incident is a clear example of why that matters.
